James became our pastor on September 17, 2017. Glynwood Baptist Church is very blessed to have James, his wife, Trish and son, Joshua as part of our family. James is also excited to be joining the Grandpa Club as his oldest son Caleb and his wife are expecting their first child!
James began a relationship with Christ when he was in first grade, and he felt the Lord leading him to ministry in the fourth grade. He holds a degree in English from Georgia State University, as well as a Master of Divinity in Christian Education with an emphasis in Children’s Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He likes to vacation at the beach, and his favorite snack is Pepperidge Farm Milano Salted Carmel Cookies. He is an avid coffee drinker, and he also enjoys reading, writing, juggling, and running. He likes any movie by Pixar, and some of his favorite TV shows include “This is Us,” “The West Wing,” and “Lost.” His favorite books include Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance, A Little Book on the Christian Life by John Calvin, and Against Calvinism by Roger Olsen. One piece of advice he holds dear is “Do not neglect the Lord of the work in your pursuit of the work of the Lord.” –Algie Morgan.
Mike became our Minister of Music/Associate Pastor on October 10, 1999. One of Mike's main ministries is Family Care. If anyone is in the hospital or homebound Mike Denning is going to visit, write letters, or make phone calls to check up on them.
Mike surrendered to the call as an adult stepping down as the owner of a profitable business to go to Florida Baptist Theological College. His family is very important to him. He has three adult daughters (Amanda, Rachel & Michelle) and three wonderful son-in-laws. He has five beautiful granddaughters. Mike loves hunting, fishing, camping and eating ice cream with his wife, Deirdre.
Greg started working at Glynwood in a voluntary position beginning in 1990 and in 1996 was hired as Bi-vocational Minister of Education. He came on staff full-time on July 10, 2005. He and his wife, Deborah, have been instrumental throughout the life of Glynwood Baptist Church. We are happy for Greg as he has announced his retirement as of April 2022.
He is a graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery with a BS in Business Administration and of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. Greg greatly enjoys history and genealogy. He has beautiful artwork about his family tree that he has built and displayed in his home. His love of history also serves to be a wonderful asset at Glynwood. Greg has two adult sons (Russell & Tucker) and two wonderful daughter-in-laws. He has one grandson, Jack Edgar Platt.
Cody joined our team here at Glynwood Baptist Church on October 14, 2018. He is filling a new position for GBC that combines Youth, Children and Family Ministry. We are excited to have Cody, his wife, Kendyl, son, Taylor, and daughters, Sophia & Eden here with us!
He has his Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Cody loves all kinds of sports and games and will try to make anything into a competition. He enjoys exercising, reading, and hunting whenever he can find the time. Cody and Kendyl both love Jesus and leading others to do the same.
