  • REv. James Jackson - Pastor

    James became our pastor on September 17, 2017.  Glynwood Baptist Church is very blessed to have James, his wife, Trish and sons, Caleb and Joshua as part of our family.

     

    James began a relationship with Christ when he was in first grade, and he felt the Lord leading him to ministry in the fourth grade. He holds a degree in English from Georgia State University, as well as a Master of Divinity in Christian Education with an emphasis in Children’s Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He likes to vacation at the beach, and his favorite snack is Pepperidge Farm Milano Salted Carmel Cookies. He is an avid coffee drinker, and he also enjoys reading, writing, juggling, and running. He likes any movie by Pixar, and some of his favorite TV shows include “This is Us,” “The West Wing,” and “Lost.” His favorite books include Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance, A Little Book on the Christian Life by John Calvin, and Against Calvinism by Roger Olsen. One piece of advice he holds dear is “Do not neglect the Lord of the work in your pursuit of the work of the Lord.” –Algie Morgan.

  • REv. Mike Denning - Minister of Music & Associate Pastor

    Mike became our Minister of Music on October 10, 1999.  Mike along with his wife, Donna, has brought Glory and Honor to God through the music ministry here at Glynwood Baptist Church.

     

    Mike surrendered to the call as an adult stepping down as the owner of a very profitable business to go to Florida Baptist Theological College.  Mike is an avid hunter and outdoors man.  His family is very important to him.  He has three adult daughters (Amanda, Rachel & Michelle) and three wonderful son-in-laws.  He has three beautiful granddaughters.  

     

    Over the past year Mike and Donna have been walking a very difficult road as Donna was diagnosed with cancer!  Their journey and their life is nothing less than a true testament of FAITH and encouragement to us all.

  • REv. Greg Platt - Minister of Education & Outreach

    Greg has been with Glynwood from the very beginning.  He served in a voluntary position beginning in 1990 and in 1996 was hired as Bi-vocational Minister of Education.  He came on staff full-time on July 10, 2005.  He and his wife, Deborah, have been instrumental throughout the life of Glynwood Baptist Church.

     

    He is a graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery with a BS in Business Administration and of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree  Greg greatly enjoys history and genealogy.  He has some beautiful artwork about his family tree that he has built and displayed in his home.  His love of history also serves to be a wonderful asset at Glynwood.  Greg has two adult sons (Russell & Tucker) and two beautiful daughter-in-laws.  He has one grandson, Jack Edgar Platt. 

  • Mrs. STacey Perdue - church secretary

    Stacey became church secretary at Glynwood on October 4, 2001.  Stacey is not only the church secretary but a church member, friend, a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on and many many more things for the family of Glynwood Baptist Church.

     

    Stacey is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Design and Production Management.  Stacey's favorite thing to do is spend time with her children (Tally - 6, Geoffrey - 4 and little Jemma - < 1 Year).  She also enjoys reading and binge watching Netflix with her husband, Kevin. 

  • Mrs. Julie Post - Financial SEcretary

    Julie joined the Glynwood Family in February of 2012 and became our Financial Secretary on August 24, 2015.  She is the "Momma" of the group with her gentle and loving ways and ever thoughtful care and concern.


    Julie retired in February of 2014 from the Alabama Department of Transportation after 36 years of service.  She is married to, Bobby, her husband of 37 years.  She has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.  She loves to read, work in the yard and visit flea markets.
