James became our pastor on September 17, 2017. Glynwood Baptist Church is very blessed to have James, his wife, Trish and sons, Caleb and Joshua as part of our family.
James began a relationship with Christ when he was in first grade, and he felt the Lord leading him to ministry in the fourth grade. He holds a degree in English from Georgia State University, as well as a Master of Divinity in Christian Education with an emphasis in Children’s Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He likes to vacation at the beach, and his favorite snack is Pepperidge Farm Milano Salted Carmel Cookies. He is an avid coffee drinker, and he also enjoys reading, writing, juggling, and running. He likes any movie by Pixar, and some of his favorite TV shows include “This is Us,” “The West Wing,” and “Lost.” His favorite books include Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance, A Little Book on the Christian Life by John Calvin, and Against Calvinism by Roger Olsen. One piece of advice he holds dear is “Do not neglect the Lord of the work in your pursuit of the work of the Lord.” –Algie Morgan.
Mike became our Minister of Music on October 10, 1999. Mike has brought Glory and Honor to God through the music ministry here at Glynwood Baptist Church.
Mike surrendered to the call as an adult stepping down as the owner of a very profitable business to go to Florida Baptist Theological College. Mike is an avid hunter and outdoors man. His family is very important to him. He has three adult daughters (Amanda, Rachel & Michelle) and three wonderful son-in-laws. He has three beautiful granddaughters.
Over the past year and a half Mike walked a very difficult road. Donna, his wife, was diagnosed with cancer! Their journey and their life were nothing less than a true testament of FAITH and encouragement to us all. In January of 2018 Donna went home to Heaven and we know she is now healed and praising God!
